MEMORIES OF UNITED EVANGELICAL CHURCH

Welcome to robgmemories.net

In robgmemories.net you can watch musical selections from United over the past 30 years and locate church bulletins from the 1970's and 1980's. You will also be able to browse photographs and documents from the United Church archives. The site also contains historical videos from the archives. You can also explore giving statements and funeral information from the 1960's.

MUSICAL SELECTIONS FROM UNITED EVANGELICAL

We have been recording music at United Evangelical Church for over 30 years. The musical selections are actually stored as part of Rob's YouTube Channel, but they can be accessed from this website.

We have a varied collection of choir anthems through the years. In addition, we have many selections of our soloists who have since passed away. We have selections by Dolores Canoles, Fred Long, Clara Wise, Will Myrick, Diane Borkman, Frank Hooper, Baptist Hoffmann, Florence Gundlach, Katherine Bush, Margaret Myrick and George Finnerty.

SEARCHING THE MUSICAL SELECTION LIBRARY

You can simply type in a title or a soloist in the search box of the musical selection library page. For instance, if you type in The Lord's Prayer, you will see the selection done by the choir and sung by soloists such as Dolores Canoles and Frank Hooper. Or if you type in Fred Long, you will see that he sung a variety of songs such as Have Thine Own Way Lord, Beneath of Cross of Jesus, How Great Thou Art, Silent Night and many others.

LOOKING THROUGH THE DOCUMENT ARCHIVES

There are so many documents of interest to explore, it's hard to say where to begin. For instance, Pastor Batz was the minister at United during the 1920's. The church became known as Batz's Church. Well Pastor Batz's son-in-law was also a minister, and was interested in coming to United to become it's Pastor. However, the comittee would only consider one candidate at a time -- and the candidate under consideration at the time was Titus Lehman who would serve United Evangelical for many, many, years.

UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST ROOTS

The United Church of Christ was formed through a merger of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Congregational Church. The churches in the Baltimore Area were part of the Evangelical and Reformed Church. There are many documents you can search that lists the churches in the Baltimore Area. You will see that United Evangelical was in the top three churches in membership in the Potomac Association of the Exangelical and Reformed Church -- only exceeded by St. Johns (Rolling Road) and St. Matthews (Norman and Lake Ave.)
